A1

Lucy: I was impressed with her classroom performance. She would be the first one to finish pages in her workbook. She is very quiet. But, she finished first. She doesn't do well if she is given a blank question, however. If she knows the pattern, she figures out the pattern and follows it. But, it is really hard for her to synthesize knowledge. So, she had trouble on the test. Like, she can read and write the αbet great but take it out of pattern and make words out of it is another story.

Eric: He knows the αbet well. I regret his not being able to take the test. He was good with doing his homework.

Adam: Adam is not too loud in class and is well-behaved. He likes to concentrate on the work.

Matt:

Michael: Michael is a great speaker, but usually he speaks Korean. Other students are not so talkative. When he understands something, he says sentences in Korean. He prefers Korean to english more than other students. That does not mean he doesn't learn English. Just, it is difficult to teach him speaking. His writing is above average for his age level and grade.

Shannon: Excellent English. He was the first one done with his test. He knows he is better than his classmates, and he is not shy. He is confident and asks questions in class about the material and directions.

Brian: Brian is slow to write English for assignments. I don't know why. He's not distracted, and his book is open and the pencil is there, but when I return to him a few minutes later the page is still blank! Part of the reason is that English is difficult for him. I don't know if he understands what studying English really means.

A3
matt: always has good ideas. like, he is teaching me new ways of making as sentence and makes them very funny. So, he doesn't follow directions sometimes, but he is so creative, it's his style. So, it is hard sometimes to know if he really understands or not.

nicholas: He is great at English among his classmates. He is confident and frequently knows the answers first. He has excellent English speaking skills and a strong voice. He has had problems with classmates in the past. Sometimes he plays rough.

Phillip: An advanced first grader at English. He seeks attention sometimes in good ways sometimes in bad ways; he needs constant attention. He is good at reading English. He has learned elsewhere about other very helpful conversational expressions which help him to communicate. Because of his outside study, he does well with second and third graders in the A3 class.

Joshua:

B

Susan: She asks lots of questions in class. "Teacher, what?" when she is not on topic with the material. She frequently volunteers for reading and answering questions. She does her homework all the time.

Sarah: She really tries to communicate beyond her ability. Unlike most students, she aggressively tries to communicate in English. Also, she concentrates well during class and stays on topic. She is patient and follows through on the topic material.

Julie: She is very, very quiet person. I have to often help her with work. She should stay in this class for longer because she needs to catch up with the B level. She doesn't understand directions, but I can help her with individual attention to finish the work. She seems to communicate best without using words. I don't hear her speak Korean much with other students, either.

John: A very quiet person. He doesn't speak much in english or Korean. He completes the writing assignments but is difficult to get him to speak, because he is such a quiet child.

Kayla: She is smart student. Sometimes she is not, however, interested in the material. If she puts her mind to her books she can do the work great. She can read, of course, but not well yet.

Anna

D

Angela: She is a very good student in spite of being the youngest in the class. I'm sure her parents know that she is doing okay in the class. She has no trouble following and keeping up with the material.

Melody: She has trouble spelling and writing.

Chloe: She studies English very hard, and consistently did her memory homework which other students would fail to complete.
Sometimes, she was very impressive.

Noah: Very attentive to the teacher. Consistent with his homework assignments. Consistent with his diary. Overall strong in English for the D level. Also participates in class when called on and is very well behaved.

Reuben: Steady and diligent worker.

Dylan: Dylan loves to type his homework. He does the assignments and homework well. He has common English mistakes in writing and reading, which I correct. Then, he

Gabriel: A quieter student. The material is difficult for him but he works hard to keep up with the class.

Jessica:

Allison: Well-behaved.

Lucy: friendly.

Sally: Friendly student who always asks "what?". She enjoys class. I'm not sure how difficult the material is to her because she seems always happy to be doing it. So, I don't know if it's difficult for her or not.

Daniel: The brightest according to his classmates. He often does not behave well in class. He has excellent English and asks questions which go beyond the subject material. He also reads his dictionary and asks for translations quite frequently. The korean teacher helps with those translations. I think he would love to have a larger English-English dictionary. I haven't seen another student with a Garfield comic book.

Victoria: very quiet voice.

Sophia: very quiet voice.

Emily: I didn't see much of her because Emily was absent for about 2 weeks and I started 4 weeks ago. She didn't take the test because of the time she had missed. She can understand the grammar for the material, but she hadn't studied the vocabulary so skipped the test.
